Daniel is entering his fifth season in minor league baseball, and second as the Vice President of Business Operations for the Crushers. Before becoming a member of the Crusher front office in 2010, he was the Director of Promotions for the West Virginia Power, Single A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Before the Power, Daniel worked at Marshall University where he assisted with the men's basketball team. A 2003 graduate of Dayton, Helm worked six years with Dayton basketball before his arrival at Marshall. During his time with the Flyers, UD made three NCAA Tournament and two Postseason NIT appearances, won an Atlantic 10 Championship, two A-10 West Division titles, and a Maui Invitational.

In 2004, Helm worked for USA Basketball and helped with Olympic Preparations. Originally from Asheville, N.C. Daniel has one daughter, Chloe Anne (5).

His rooting interests are Dayton and Clemson basketball, Notre Dame football, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Charlotte Bobcats and the Carolina Panthers, which includes a slight man crush on Steve Smith.
