Crushers Swept by Visiting Slammers
AVON, Ohio - The Lake Erie Crushers fell to 4-8, as they lost the series finale against the Joliet Slammers by a score of 4-3 at All Pro Freight Stadium. Joliet improved to 7-6 in the win.

Lake Erie received a terrific start by their newest player, Sam Strickland. Strickland tossed 7.0 innings of shutout baseball, while striking out four batters and allowing five hits. Strickland received a no-decision in the loss.

The pitcher of record for the Crushers was Kelyn Schellenberg, whom dropped to 0-1. The Reedly, Ca. native pitched 1.0 innings, and allowed the go-ahead run for the Slammers.

The Crushers pulled off a rally in the seventh when RBI base hits by Kellen Kulbacki and Brian Erie brought the score to 2-0. Adrian Ortiz then added a sac-fly to left to bring in the final Crushers’ run.
