AVON, Ohio – The Lake Erie Crushers (35-29) were defeated by the Washington Wild Things (25-37) by a score of 5-4 on Saturday night at All Pro Freight Stadium in front of 3,448 attendees. The Crushers starting pitcher was Alex Loftin, whose record dropped to 4-2 in the loss. The University of Akron alum tossed 5.0 innings with two strikeouts and four earned runs allowed. Kyle Weldon collected a pair of base hits on the night to raise his season average to .279. Robby Kuzdale also added a two hits and one run scored. Jason Taylor and Russell Moldenhauer each had RBI base hits. Taylor’s average now stands at .298 for the season. Lake Erie will play the second game of this three game series on Sunday afternoon for a 5:05 p.m. game time at All Pro Freight Stadium. The Crushers will be celebrating the Olympic Opening for the evening. The Lake Erie Crushers, the 2011 Frontier League Organization of the year, play ball at All Pro Freight Stadium, a 5,000 capacity stadium located in Avon, OH.
