Avon, OH --  The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, beat the Windy City ThunderBolts, 3-2, at All Pro Freight Stadium on Tuesday, as the Crushers took the lead early and responded to a late Windy City rally.

The Crushers (14-12) ended a three game losing slide and are now 3-1 against Windy City this season. With the loss, the ThunderBolts (17-11) are 3-7 in their previous 10 games.

Lake Erie jumped on the board in the first inning as Parks Jordan walked with one out. Carlos Avila struck out and Jose Barraza singled to left, moving Jordan to second. Still with two outs, Brendan Costantino came up and hit a soft groundball to third base. T-Bolts' Taylor Smart tried to make a barehanded play, but the throw sailed past the first baseman, Blair Beck, into foul territory. Costantino was given a single on the play, with Jordan scoring on the error.

The Crushers would add another run in the second inning as Cody Herald hit a one-out, infield single. Max Casper hit a single to right field which moved Herald to third. With Jordan at the plate, Casper got caught in a rundown on a pickoff attempt. He stayed alive long enough for Herald to come in and score and the Crushers led, 2-0.

Windy City would score their first run in the sixth inning. Tim Zier doubled to lead off the inning. He would move to third on a passed ball by Crushers catcher, Jose Barraza. Zier scored on a sacrifice fly to left field by Coco Johnson.

The T-Bolts tied the game at two in the top of the eighth inning. Johnson doubled on a hit to center field that Parker Norris settled under, but could not make the catch. Ransom LaLonde came up and hit a line drive to first base. Brady North caught the ball, but on an attempt at a double play, threw the ball past Casper covering second, into left field. The error allowed Johnson to move to third. Reggie Lawson then hit a groundball to short, that allowed Johnson to score the tying run.

Lake Erie would take the lead for good in the bottom of the eighth inning. Carlos Avila reached first on a bunt base hit. Avila would score all the way from first base on a Jose Barraza double to the left field corner.

Todd Kibby started on the mound for the Crushers. He went five scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and struck out seven hitters. Chandler Jagodzinski came on and allowed a run in the sixth inning. Three relievers came out of the bullpen in the seventh inning. Juan Caballero took the mound with base loaded and one out in that inning and got the next two hitters to ground into a fielder's choice. Mike Devine (4-1) picked up the win after giving up a run and two hits in the final two innings.

Brady Muller pitched seven innings for the T-Bolts. He allowed two runs, one earned on eight hits, and struck out five Crushers. Brian Loconsole (1-1) picked up the loss after giving up a run in the eighth inning.

The Crushers continue this series as they take on the Windy City ThunderBolts on Wednesday at All Pro Freight Stadium. The Crushers will start righty Steven Hagen (2-0, 1.27). The ThunderBolts starting pitcher will be right-hander Clay Chapman (2-1, 3.26). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
