Player Development Specialist
Dr. Ickes currently teaches the clinical and sport psychology courses at Ashland University as well as maintaining a private practice. He earned an undergraduate degree at Ashland College before receiving graduate degrees from the University of Akron and Kent State University.
Dr. Ickes brings to the table a wealth of experience in the field of sport psychology. He has worked with the Ashland University baseball and softball teams, the College of Wooster baseball team and the Hillsdale High School baseball and softball teams. His book, Mental Toughness: Getting the Edge was published in March - 2010.
Dr. Ickes’s specialty is the study and application of psychological factors that lead to optimal athletic performance. His work focuses on developing mentally tough personality attitudes and traits, as well as improving maximum focus and preparation for each individual pitch.
