Roberts spent four years at the University of Portland splitting time between the rotation and the bullpen before being drafted in the 35th round of the 2007 draft by the Florida Marlins. For the duration of 2007, Roberts came out of the bullpen exclusively, totaling a 1-1 record in 26 innings. He graduated with a B.S. in Communication.

In 2009, Roberts became a starter, and despite an 0-4 record, posted a very respectable 4.33 ERA with 34 strikeouts and just 13 walks in 52 innings.

Last season, 2010, was Roberts best professional season to date. He had a 10-5 record as a starter and recorded a 2.62 ERA and 1.08 WHIP through 138 innings.  Roberts was selected as one five players from the Crushers to join the 2010 Frontier League All-Star Game.  Representing the Crushers at the All-Star Game is, thusfar, Roberts best Crushers memory.

When not playing baseball, Roberts enjoys fishing, video games and watching Shawshank Redemption.
