The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, are proud to announce the return of our Cleveland Sports Legends Game, presented by Ray’s Auto & Our Lady of the Wayside. The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 23rd at 7:05 PM and will take place at Sprenger Health Care Stadium in Avon, Ohio.


Among those playing in the game will be:

Former Cavs Player Austin Carr
(Mr. Cavaliers)

Known as Mr. Cavalier, Austin Carr was the first overall draft pick of the Cavaliers back in 1971.  He helped lead the team to three straight playoff appearances between 1975 and 1978, averaging 16, 12 and 17 points per game. In 1980 he played his final NBA season with the Dallas Mavericks.  Today, Carr serves as the Director of Community Relations for the Cavs, as well as the color commentator on Cavs TV on Fox Sports Ohio. His jersey is one of 7 jerseys retired by the team, and in 2007 he was inducted into the college basketball Hall of Fame.

Former Browns Running Back Kevin Mack

Kevin Mack played 9 seasons for the Cleveland Browns earning 2 Pro Bowl selections while rushing for more than five-thousand yards in his career. Mack joined the Browns in 1985 after 1 year in the United States Football League. He was a number one pick out of Clemson and teamed with backfield mate Earnest Byner to become only the 3rd pair of teammates to both rush for 1,000 yards for the same team in the same season.  Known as the “Mack Truck”, Mack retired following the 1993 season.

Former Cavs Player Mark Price

Mark Price joined the Cavaliers out of Georgia Tech back in 1986.  Known throughout his career as one of the most consistent shooters in the league, Price played 9 years in Cleveland, leading the team to 7 playoff appearances during that span. Price was also a four-time All-Star for the Cavs and won the league’s 3-point shooting contest twice.  He also won an Olympic Gold Medal as part of the 2nd Dream team and has had his number retired by the Cavs.

Former Indians Outfielder Joe Charboneau:

 Joe was the 1980 AL Rookie of the Year Award Winner when he hit a team-leading 23 Home Runs with 87 Runs Batted In and a .289 batting average. Charboneau played parts of two more seasons in Cleveland before his playing career was cut short due to numerous injuries.

Former Indians Pitcher Len Barker:

Barker pitched a perfect game for the Tribe at Cleveland Stadium on May 15, 1981. He is one of 23 pitchers that have thrown a perfect game in Major League Baseball. Barker spent 11 years in the Major Leagues playing for the Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves Milwaukee Brewers, as well as the Indians.

Former New England Patriot Je'Rod Cherry
(ESPN Cleveland Radio Host)

Je’Rod Cherry spent 9 years in the NFL winning three Super Bowl rings with the New England Patriots.  Cherry was originally drafted in the 2nd round by the New Orleans Saints out of Cal, back in 1996.  The Defensive Back and Special Teams standout spent 4 seasons in New Orleans before joining the Philadelphia Eagles for the two-thousand season. Following his one year in Philly, Cherry joined the Patriots where he won 3 Super Bowls before retiring in 2005.  Then in 2009, he joined the radio team at ESPN 850. You can also hear him as part of the pre-game radio team prior to every Browns game.


Former Browns Offensive Lineman Joe Thomas

Thomas was the Browns first-round draft pick back in 2007. He proceeded to play 10,363 consecutive snaps until he injured his triceps last October. During that time, he was also selected to 10 consecutive Pro Bowls. Thomas retired after the 2017 season.



The 7-inning Legends game will also feature local radio and TV celebrities. The game will be immediately followed by an on-field autograph session where fans can get their favorite Legends' signatures. The event will offer General Admission tickets for $20, as well as a limited number of VIP tickets for $35, which will give fans the chance to meet and have dinner with the players before the game. The VIP dinner will start at 4 PM and run until 6 PM.

There will be a Silent Auction of sports memorabilia, a 50/50 raffle, and even a chance to play in the game, with all proceeds going to Our Lady of the Wayside.
