Redfield Breaks Franchise Stolen Base Record, Crushers Smoke Joliet

Avon, OH - September 5, 2026 - The Lake Erie Crushers (41-59) started the final fireworks show of the season with some offensive fireworks against the Joliet Slammers (42-59) on Saturday night. The Grapes won it 10-3.

Both starters went two scoreless innings, but the Crushers brought the fireworks in the 3rd on a 400-foot bomb from 1B Brayden Jobert. His three-run homer was his 20th homer of the season and his fifth with Lake Erie.

In the 5th, Lake Erie had another milestone and a franchise record set. LF Joe Redfield stole second base to tie the franchise record in stolen bases, then a double steal of home with Redfield and RF Jeron Williams got him number 49, breaking the 16-year-old record set by Dom Duggan in 2010. Redfield’s steal of home was the first of two runs in the inning, and Lake Erie led 5-0.

Crushers’ starter LHP Cobe Reeves was fantastic on Saturday night. He went six scoreless innings, struck out five batters, and gave up just four hits in a beautifully pitched ballgame. 

The Crushers scored another two runs in the 6th with the help of an RBI single from Joe Redfield, who promptly stole second base to become the first Crushers in franchise history to steal 50 bases in a single season.

In the 7th, the hit parade began, and RF Garret Pike, C Nick Chavez, and CF Nathan Archer all logged RBI singles to make it 10-0.

The Slammers scored three throw-away runs in the 8th inning, but they wouldn’t matter. The Crushers finished off Joliet with a 10-3 winner on Saturday night. The bats started the fireworks, and the City of Avon ended them after the game.

Tomorrow’s Sunday Family Fun Day is the final game of the 2026 season for the Lake Erie Crushers.
